We are Tim and Denise Taylor and after more then 41 years of living and working in Alaska together we are about to begin a new chapter in our lives.
Oct 1, 2014 marked the beginning of our new life style of leaving Alaska in the winter months and traveling in the “lower 48” and probably at some point some international wandering.
This blog will loosely chronicle our travels and expound on the new experiences, interesting destinations and the old and new friends that we encounter.
Our mantra is to escape the cold Alaskan winters and to base our travel decisions first on finding the best (warmest) weather, second on the actual destination itself and thirdly on the friends we want to visit.

Denise and I are not new to this kind life style. We have been driving up and down the Alcan since 1973. First in a 1958 vw van, then in a converted 1958 Ford bus, several Mercedes sedans and a Chevy step van (the fruit ladies truck). We have driven round trip to Central America and at one point in the 1980’s we considered the Baja peninsula our second home.
While working for the park service for last 30 years we have been very fortunate to have made friends with some extraordinay people and now plan on visiting them in all the exotic locations they may inhabit.
We are traveling with large two Bernese Mt. Dogs Lulu and Tuks (thus the name of our blog) who also love to travel and just hang with us.
We are driving a brand new 25′ 2013 Forest River Solera 24R and towing a 1969 vw bug.

So here we go ….if you are so inclined to follow our adventures just click the follow button and you can keep track of what kind of trouble were getting into. We are very new to blogging so you may have to cut us some slack.
Dear Tim, dear Denise,
it was so great meeting you on the road! I just scrolled through your whole blog and I’m so happy you gave me the link. This inspires a lot! Regarding traveling and your lifestyle!
Best,
Heike
