One Lucky Guy

If possible watch the above video on a big screen in 1080p, turn up the volume slip in the ear pods and enjoy.

Sometimes in life one gets lucky, I am one of those people…

Early in my life I hitchhiked to Alaska on a quest to climb mountains and explore the wild north but during that journey I found my soulmate, someone  to share the rest of my life with.

Denise and I met and fell in love in 1973 and have been together ever since living the good life not only as Americans but also as Alaskans and world travelers.

Making New Friends In Burma

The above video captures some of the highlights of our life together while wandering the globe, building a house, running a business and living with big furry dogs.

Relaxing In Bali

Our trips around the sun have now reached an outsized number but what we have experienced and witnessed during all those years has helped shape our view of life on this planet and just how lucky we both are.

One of the things I appreciate most about our early travels was that we got to wander pre-internet and pre-social media.

While on the road in the 70’s and 80’s we were oblivious to world politics most of the time (especially in China) and had no idea where we were (no GPS) nor did we understand most of the local dialects.

Writing In The Journal, London

Typically we would step off a plane in some remote location and immediately the sights, sounds, smells and different peoples would overwhelm our senses.  Most of the time we had no idea where we were headed next.

It was an instant adventure. It was so much fun to travel and be together.

I must admit carrying around two full size 35mm cameras, extra lenses and bags of film was sometimes a chore but it did enable us able to capture photos of the peoples and places that were yet untouched by mass tourism.

I thank my beautiful wife Denise for her never ending smiles and always positive outlook and the 50 wonderful years together, man what a blast we had!!

I look forward to many more…

  2. Awwww—Timmy, that was beautiful. But I didn’t recognize the two young people that were featured. “Ginko biloba”—one of the favorite names I had to memorize in my Hort 205 class. You’ve lived the dream my friend and I salute you. I think I recognized the dirt bag van in YOSE in ’74.

Thanks man, keep in touch, And, oh yes, please take care of Marky Boy down there south of the border. Don’t let the cartel get him.

  5. What a wonderful tribute to Denise, and to you both. Moving and inspiring, even to an old crusty bachelor. (Denise looked more worried about the little monkey than she did about the camel or elephant. A trooper, for sure.) As they say, she’s someone to ride the river with.
