There is a very small campground located at the remote tip of Point Conception along California’s southern coast where life happens at a different pace.
Santa Barbara County’s Jalama beach is set apart by its remoteness, its steep windy and narrow access road, lack of cell coverage and a very relaxed atmosphere, its like camping at a Calif beach in the 70’s.
Shortly after arrival you automatically start to relax and slow down.
After traveling all day from the high Sierra we were ready to get out of the Zefyr and absorb some negative ions. It wasn’t long before we were all running down the beach dodging the waves and walking in the sand.
This was the big dogs first visit to the ocean and it was great fun to watch them approach the water and just stare at all the wave action. It didn’t take long before they were in up to their ankles (remember these are mt. dogs) and chasing the gulls.
We will let the photos of this place speak for themselves………

Many families and large groups have been coming here to spend thanksgiving for many years, 18 consecutive years for the family camped next to us.
Our next destination is Thousand Oaks Calif where the forecast shows mid 70’s for Thanksgiving day……now thats what we Alaskans call a happy holiday !
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
