Above is our latest video “Tumbleweeds”. Be sure to watch it on a big screen in 1080p with the volume turned way up!!
I highly recommend using ear buds or head phones to truly enjoy the soundtrack.
Please Feel Free to Use This Post As a Distraction From What’s Currently Going On In Our World….We Are. Hope It Helps.
For the last 10 years we have aimlessly wandered the great deserts of the American Southwest. You could say we are similar to a tumbleweed rolling along with the wind, never really knowing where we will end up next.
During these years of wander we have explored many different areas within all five of North America’s deserts, the Great Basin, Mohave, Chihuahuan, Sonoran and occasionally the Colorado Plateau.
Our specially equipped vehicle allows us to enter some very remote desert regions.
We are often traversing very rough, steep and sandy desert tracks that more times than not gain us access to remote locations with unbelievable topography, vistas and typically we find ourselves alone.
We choose to slow down and spend longer periods of time in these amazing places which allows us to intimately connect with each of the unique environments and to better understand their differences.
This can provide us with an unusual perspective about how our deserts are coping in this world of population growth and climate change. Needless to say we have seem many changes in the last ten years.
In this video we try and capture a few of the highlights of our yearly travels through the American Southwest.
We are very lucky to live in a country that has set aside and protects these publics lands for the enjoyment of future generations.
If you were to ask us where might be our favorite desert location we would have to say each one has its own unique geology, flora and fauna and we enjoy each in different ways but love them all.
Maybe what we love most about our time in the desert is discovering the unexpected, the ever changing vistas, the surreal sunrises and sunsets, the way erosion has shaped the rocks into imaginary castles and spires, and a glimpse of the historic west where things haven’t changed much in eons.
Experiencing these wild places with friends and family is probably the most fun part of our adventures.
There is nothing quite like a gathering of folks relaxing around a campfire under a very dark night sky full of brilliant galaxies while sipping a tasty beverage and sharing stories of travels past. It just doesn’t get any better…
Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by the amazing scenery and lighting that it actually becomes hard to take photographs, at that point it is just best to sit back and enjoy the moment.

Thanks for following us on these adventures!
No matter what freedom means to you
whether you live on the road or not
freedom is being able to choose how and where
you spend your time and who you spend it with and
even though none of us can guarantee tomorrow…
we still have today
We would love to hear from you

That all sounds amazing! Spring is just around the corner here. Can’t wait to see all soon.
Thanks Tony, Ruby and us are looking forward to walking with you all again soon!
Thank you for sharing these adventures with us. Amazing scenery, photography, colors, and campfire gatherings. Loved the music you selected to go along with the videos too. Left me smiling. Ruby never fails to make me smile too with her enthusiasm.
We’re starting to see breakup here (not my favorite season), and we hope it goes quickly. Looking forward to seeing you as you return to the Northland.
Thanks Kay Lynn, Ruby loves the desert and so do we…it won’t be long before we pass through your neck of the woods and all the pups can play together. Hope breakup is an easy one for you this spring!
Beautiful, as usual. I love it when your notification of a post arrives in my mailbox. I know I am in for an audiovisual experience. Thank you.
Thanks Melinda, I guess we just missed you at the Whitewater Draw, what an amazing place for birding, hope your travels continue to be amazing!!
Awesome video, beautiful pics and fabulous soundtrack…it must have cost you a fortune to gather all your good looking background actors to hang with you.
Thanks for the kind words Lifedancers!! Yes we were very fortunate to be surrounded by our good friends that are always willing to be photographed without a release form, 🙂 thank you all and it was a ton of fun to hang with you again this year!
I agree with your thoughts 100%. I recently had lunch with a longtime friend (a city gal). She asked about our travels and what some of our favorite places are as well as how we could possible live in an RV for so many years. I explained how I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel extensively and stay in all modes of lodging. If you gave me a choice between the finest Hyatt or a travel trailer, I’d pick a trailer every time. She just couldn’t wrap her head around that even though I tried explaining that the RV allows me to immerse myself in my surroundings and nature. It’s the best way to travel and connect with like-minded people.🙂 So much fun!
Thanks Ingrid, yes we always say thank goodness not everyone wants to travel/live like we do, it would be far more crowded out there. Coming to Alaska some day?
